Karumuru @ Mother Tongue Sweets Calicut

@Mother tongue sweets, as the name suggests, they are very much famous for sweets, especially Arabian sweets. But, we are not concentrating on the sweet dishes, rather we have gone there to try out the savoury items. Very budget-friendly mini bites.

We arrived there and took a tour with one of their sales boy, a well maintained place where extreme care is given for cleanliness. We brought a few items, as our main focus was on savoury items, we bought cheeseburger, chicken burger, pizza, zatar, fatayer, chocolate croissants and we also brought some sweets, cream shahriya, ayoon and baklawa.

The savoury items really made our day, they look small and cute and it tastes good. Arabic sweets are a little expensive but the taste is really awesome. Cream shahriya is a mix of vermicelli and cream and topped with an eclair, it tastes yum. Ayoon is a different sweet that we have never tried, Ayoon means ‘eye’ in Arabic. And it appears like an eye floating in milkmaid and based with biscuit crums. The balls are made with an eclair, it just melts in your mouth.

Below is the price of each item and location:
1. All savoury items – between Rs. 25 and Rs. 35
2. Cream shahriya – Rs. 190
3. Baklawa – Rs. 300
4. Ayoon – Rs. 290 approx. (not remembering the exact prize )
Location: Arayidathupalam, Mavoor road Calicut, India
